The ideal farmers market tote is elusive. It needs to have enough structure to give your heirloom tomatoes a chance at making it home intact, and it needs to have enough interior space to fit half a dozen ears of corn and still leave room for the spontaneous flower purchase that may or may not match your outfit. It needs to have a system that ensures your phone and keys don’t get lost between the blueberries and the pluots, and above all it needs to be able to weather a few bread crumbs or a leaky peach. Everlane, the transparency-oriented clothing company, has partnered with Edible Schoolyard NYC (who we profiled in our summer issue) to release a set of limited edition chef totes that hit all the functionality high notes and look great at the same time.

Everlane will donate $20 from each sale to non-profit Edible Schoolyard NYC, and they’re hoping to raise $50,000 to support school garden initiatives in the city. As of press time, they had already raised a third of that goal in the first three days. Each tote costs $45 and can be purchased here.

To design the bags, Everlane partnered with five chefs hailing from New York and San Francisco. Each chef’s style inspired a slogan ranging from “Know Your Grains” (Chad Robertson of San Francisco’s Tartine) to “Know Your Pig” (April Bloomfield). Check out their website for videos of the chefs in action.
