Do you prefer your wine without “Filtrozym,” “mega-purple” or oak powder? So does chef Tom Kearney and the team at The Farm on Adderley and on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. they’re teaming up with Jenny and Francois to celebrate natural wine and introduce you to some of their favorite winemakers as part of their ongoing dinner series.

Natural wine, which is made with minimal chemical intervention throughout the growing process and in the cellar (find a longer definition here) has been rapidly gaining popularity in the United States over the past few years. The five course meal will feature wines from Domaine Plageoles, Domaine Oudin and Dufaitre.

The winemakers from each vineyard will be at the dinner as well. Florent and Romain Plageoles of Domaine Plageoles have done incredible work in reviving indigenous grape varietals, and Nathalie and Isabelle Oudin are working to preserve natural methods in predominately industrial Chablis. Rémi Dufaitre’s elegant wines have caught the attention of prominent winemakers in the Beaujolais region and are rapidly gaining momentum in Paris.

They’ll all be selling bottles on site, and their wines will be featured throughout the meal. Chef Tom Kearney, who also just opened a natural wine bar in Cobble Hill called June, summarized our desire to connect with producers: “We want to know with some certainty that we’re not exporting our wealth to an anonymous corporate entity. I think it’s important to support people who are making great efforts like these winemakers are to restore the biodiversity of the landscape, preserve handmade traditions and support a regional economy. I think dinners like these are great ways to make the human connection.”

Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased here.
